I love the shots of the rocks with the box - the textures and colors compliment and contrast perfectly with each other. And nothing makes me happier than an old book (even a dictionary)!

Great collection! Where did you find them? #6 looks like an eye.

1,7,8 are my favs! The first has an extra dimention from the sole rock pictures due to the box...it gives your subject a great backdrop! The 7th reminds me of an eye...the stone almost looks wet...and the last is really because your rocks are such eternal treasures, but the book is so fragile It immediately made me think of our own mortality (nice thing to get up thinking hahahaha). Great shots!

The rock(geode) in photo six and seven is rather unique. What looks like an eye is actually liquid within the rock.I believe these are called enhydros — quartz crystals with liquid inclusions. Within the liquid is a tiny bubble and if you tip the crystal back and forth the bubble will move. When you tilt the rock the liquid moves around. The rock was given to me by friends who knew I'd be fascinated and appreciate the specimen. I found the first two rocks. The geodes were gifts. The last photo of a small sized dictionary comes from England. As for the box—it's handmade.

The photo doesn't come from England—the dictionary was printed in the UK.

I use to love geology (and still do) so I was collecting all kind of rocks I could find in the country, at home and overseas.... then I left to study in Paris , most of them desapeared or were put in a place I ignore.... I guess my dad was tired of finding them all around the house... I started again getting some new ones, and learnt that each rock can also ease pain or put good vibes in the house.... never know ! :))) Glad to see that great post
