Because I needed to go down to Cambridge
Because I thought I'd stop at Kate's Mystery Book Store
Because the day turned gray I looked for colour
Because I forgot to turn I spotted the sign at Porter Square:
Did You Beat Your Best Time
Or Just Yourself?
Run Easy.
So I contemplated time—Tempus fugit
Eternal time, "The times they are a-changing."
What did it all mean?
Because the traffic slowed I turned
to see a reflection in a building of glass—
Do any windows open?
Because I parked on the side of Kate's
I watch a mysterious lady in the window
stare into her magnifying glass—
without a clue
What did she see?
Because I love the clutter of Kate's
I uncovered three used books, spoke
to an English woman
looking for mysteries, "With a National Park setting."
Because I found myself thinking of time, glass
and mystery I drove thinking of connections
Because I passed two news trucks
I thought of mysteries.
What happened? When did it happen?
I found my Only Connect.
