The night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand.—

Frederic Lawrence Knowles

These things I warmly wish for you Someone to love, some work to do, A bit o' sun, a bit o' cheer, And a guardian angel always near.—

Irish Blessings

It doesn't make much difference how the paint is put on as long as something has been said. Technique is just a means of arriving at a statement.—

Jackson Pollock

Give a woman a fish and you feed her for a day. Teach a woman to fish and you feed her for a lifetime.—
Proverb

Because we focused on the snake, we missed the scorpion.—

Egyptian Proverb

When a symbol unmoors itself from what it symbolizes, it loses meaning. It becomes ineffective.

— Arundhati Roy

Grown don't mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown? What's that suppose to mean? In my heart it don't mean a thing. —Toni Morrison, Beloved, 1987

The old pipe gives the sweetest smoke.—

Irish Proverb

[A canvas is] an arena in which to act.—

Jackson Pollock

I used to go and flatten my nose against that window and absorb all I could of his art. It changed my life. I saw art then as I wanted to see it.—
Mary Cassatt

Drawing is putting a line (a)round an idea.—

Henri Matisse

If the eye does not want to see, neither light nor glasses will help.—

German Proverb

What has happened makes the world. Live on the edge, looking.—Robert Creeley

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of that which is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

"Rock art consists of petroglyphs, pictographs, and geoglyphs. Petroglyphs are images carved or pecked on rocks or rock walls. Pictographs are painted onto the rocks, using brushes, fingers or even spraying paint with the mouth. Geoglyphs, sometimes called intaglios, are images made in the desert floor by scraping away stones to make a design."

Carley I agree with Richard! This post is amazingly beautiful and creative.... and the quotes are perfect. (One of them reminds me of this one: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for one day. Teach a man to fish and you won't see him again all summer!")
