A "And Then Story"...in Black and White and Colour

2007.12.10
Museum visitors walk past a new installation. No one turns to see the chairs on the wall. “There are no ordinary moments.”—

Dan Millman

I take out my camera, hug the wall, and take a photo. No one turns to look at me photographing the stripes. “Question everything. Every stripe, every star, every word spoken. Everything.”

— Ernest Gaines

Then I get down on my knees, point my camera up, and zoom in on a small portion of the wall. A man turns around and stares at me and keeps walking.— “One should really use the camera as though tomorrow you'd be stricken blind.”

— Dorothea Lange

Went out for a walk at noon .I looked up, something I had done earlier when I photographed the curved stripes, and the vertical stripes on the columns caught my eye. An only connect—I'm in a vortex of lines! “I am open to the guidance of synchronicity, and do not let expectations hinder my path.”

— Dalai Lama

Came back to the museum and wandered around the Chinese Brush Painting class. I noted how the lines had changed. “One generation plants the trees, and another gets the shade”

—Chinese Proverb

Back to lines, lines of traffic on the way home. "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race." ~H.G. Wells

The rain and sleet began and I amused myself as the passenger in a car going no where quickly."The longest journey begins with a single step, not with a turn of the ignition key." —Edward Abbey

It started to snow so I opened the window and took a picture across the Charles River." The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball."—
Doug Larson

Then the night took over." No sight is more provocative of awe than is the night sky." ~Llewelyn Powys

“I haven't a clue as to how ...this... story will end. But that's all right. When you set out on a journey and night covers the road, you don't conclude the road has vanished. And how else could we discover the stars?”
