Ice Mistress

2008.02.21
Many of the phenomena of Winter are suggestive of an inexpressible tenderness and fragile delicacy.

—Henry David Thoreau

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."
— Albert Camus

I took a short cut home and came to an abrupt stop when I spotted these ice covered tree branches.

Peche Beautiful. Reminds me of the Ice Queen in The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe :) Almost looks like you could weave a delicate outfit from the ice.

Madoc How can so much ice get on these lower branches and not on the higher ones?
Superb captures.
Very, very beautiful and unique (to me).

oldbabe This has been a familiar site here too this winter. I can feel the cold just looking at these. 1 does look like an ice mistress welcoming me with open arms! (No thank you, I say).

Some of the branches get so weighed down with ice you wonder how they keep from snapping off as they lean over to touch the ground.
oldbabe · 2008-02-22: 12:27
