How true, how true. And you've got me wondering about #1. It's too complex for me to figure out. Looks like a bunch of fenced in stuffed animals...now, mind you, I have a vitreous detachment and don't see well! Whatever it is, it's a very unique picture and I like it. #2 looks like a sketch. #3 looks like an old map, but it also looks like painted and dried earth/clay. Wonderful and thought provoking post, as usual.

#1 - wow! Starkly evocative. On a lighter note, I am reminded of one of my father's old Irish sayings: "The world's a dangereous place; we'll all be lucky to get out of it alive!"

Ah—What the mind sees is not what the eye sees. The first photo looks less ominous in colour. There's a rather eclectic museum in a small city with an eye to catching your eye. In front of the museum is a twelve foot frame in the shape of a face. Whenever the exhibit changes— the frame remains, but the exhibit within or on the exterior of the frame alters. The interior of the frame was filled with colourful stuffed animals. Rather than take a photo of the entire structure I moved in and selected a small portion. The b&w gave a totally different appearance. The viewer is forced to see only a part and create a picture or a conclusion about what they are seeing. I was playing with the idea of how we , upon only seeing or hearing part of something, construct a whole.

Your explanations brought a lot to my comprehension of that wonderful first shot, but now makes me wonder what it would look like in colors. But b&w is better, I presume, if you chose to present it so. Very interesting set (particularly that intriguing (before explanations ; ) first shot.

i really like the lines and the chaos in the first shot. and you're right, the B&W gives it a menacing tone.
