Harvard Street, Brookline MA

2008.05.29
—an antique, soon to be gone, covered with mementoes and invitations

—love the brick pattern—urban sun dial

—entrance

—looking out

—always some construction

—hide away

—looking up

—mural painted by students

—Is this the real Spek?

—variety of stores

—he was a homeless man who lived on the streets of Boston for thirty years

After a meeting in Brookline, and on a beautiful day, I decided to walk down Harvard Street from Coolidge Corner to where the street stops, turns and continues on under another name. Ethnic diversity—from one end to another. I stopped at Ramis, a Middle Eastern kosher restaurant, for a Hummus Falafel in Pita.

Continuing the walk I pass Chinese, Indian, Brazilian, and Cambodian restaurants . And then there are urban intangibles—graffiti, street murals, flyers plastered on telephone booths, stores, alley ways, upscale and down at the heels stores.

There's a vibrancy here.

oldbabe I'm not sure what I would think if I came upon this street and glanced down it. I am wondering if I would turn and enter as you did. I see it was an enjoyable walk.

I did enjoy the student mural. I was wondering why they chose to paint the various objects. At first I thought it might be a rebus puzzle when I saw key + ring. But then I couldn't fit in tomato (that is a tomato, right?) + banana!
