Harvard Square Theatre
“For me, the cinema is not a slice of life, but a piece of cake.”

—Alfred Hitchcock

Harvard Square —always a place for opinions.

I had a meeting in town and stopped for lunch in Cambridge. First, they are tearing up sidewalks and putting down new sidewalks. This means that the scant parking is almost non-existent. After thirty-five minutes I finally found a spot —only a ten minutes walk to Darwins. I love their Hubbard sandwich—a veggie delight.

Getting into Darwins meant avoiding the newly poured cement and walking up a wood —hastily placed—plywood board. There were no seats available and the seven people with laptops looked as if they were ensconced for hours.

Walking back to the car I spotted several chairs outside Gutman Library—( so named because Gutman, a New York financier, had donated money for its construction back in 1969). Rather than eat in the car I pulled two chairs together, used one as a makeshift table, and hovered over my sandwich, chips and sparkling water.

By that time I needed to go feed the meter and then head to the Charles Hotel—to use their facilities.

On the way I passed a clothing store with the immigration sign.

Walking back to the car I noted that the spire had been scraped —getting ready for a new paint job.

Today the city seemed frenetic.

Couldn't wait to get back and walk . Nothing like green for the spirit.

Lindyart I'll have to keep my mouth shut for now about that sign but I can say that it is not ...

I can feel the frenzy it must have made you feel .. I grew up in a big city but more and more I long for country ...

ScubaLiz I think we've all had days like that! Good idea to take a walk as an antidote. Nice photos, though, I really like the angle of the first one, great shot!
