Counting...

2008.10.07
With photography, you zero in; you put a lot of energy into short moments, and then you go on to the next thing.
—Robert Mapplethorpe

“The one who asks questions doesn't lose his way”

African Proverb

“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”

Albert Einstein

“What I tell you three times is true.”

Lewis Carroll

“It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child”

Pablo Picasso

“The things that count most cannot be counted.”

I went down the Museum of Fine Arts to see their new exhibit— Treasures from Assyria in the British Museum . Spectacular.

While looking at the bronze lion weights I couldn't help thinking of early counting and measuring—the cubit, the palm—the use of zero for positioning.

One could get lost in weights and numbers—but I did move on to lions and battles.

Sometimes it is useful to know how large your zero is. ~Author Unknown

oldbabe Thoughtful series, as usual.

I think I need to visit more museums. I never used to like them - nothing in them had meaning for me. I had no sense of history - I hated the study of it in school. Now I crave the study of it as it pertains to ancestors. I think I would enjoy museums now.
