Very nice photos ... but what you here is a monitor lizard, not an iguana! Iguanas are from South America, but these are local species.

I get the jeebies-jeebies when I look at photos of monitor lizards, snakes, iguanas etc. But this is a fascinating set of pictures. How long did you have to wait to get these pictures?

I was lucky on that day, didn't have to wait at all. i saw the lizard just when i entered the allotment. He was too hungry to be bothered by my presence.

AAARRRRGGGHHHHH !! I had one four times this size in my chalet when I went camping a few months ago. It was in a panic state and was all over the room thumping its massive tail everywhere. Needless to say--- I scrambled out of the chalet and slept in the tent !!
