The Crown Flower (Calotropis gigantea) is a large shrub that grows to 4 m tall. It thrives in hot, sunny dry environments including areas near the coast. The Crown flower is a species native to Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India and China. Here in Singapore it can only be found in parks.

It has clusters of waxy flowers that are either white or lavender in color. Each of its flower consists of five pointed petals and a small crown rising from the center that is holding the stamens. The fruit is a follicle, it will split open when dry and the seeds are dispersed by wind.

This plant plays host to a variety of of insects and birds which use the fibers found in the fruit to build their nests.

????? beautiful pics. At first glance at No 3, i thot u had captured a bug eating plant devouring a winged inseat and the wing is on the outside of its mouth... :) .. it also looks like the head of a green garden snake having a snack..
