view from the air

the Cessna Grand Caravan, connecting cities/towns and small islands in Papua. Some of the cities/towns could be reached by a slight bigger aircraft such as ATR 72 and Dornier 328

just about to land in Biak, with Cessna Grand Caravan, usually flew on 3,000 feet above sea level

pilot always got the better view first:) flying on smaller Cessna carrier, older type than the grand caravan one. usually fly on 1,200 feet above sea level and seating behind the pilot certainly has a value added, I could tap his shoulder and ask him which island it was...

a closer look when the plane about to land...home sweet home...this is Manokwari airstrip, the town where I've been posted for almost a year now...

I always enjoy flying with small aircraft, as the view outside is much closer than using any boeings or airbus' carrier, but I never have courage to take picture of the airplane itself, particularly when I'm already seated. My favorite seat is always on the left side behind the pilot. Two smallest aircraft that I often used while I'm in Papua were Cessna Grand Caravan and smaller Cessna, I don't recall which type:(
The picture here just some kind of reminder to me, as I'm not sure whether I will experience using this kind of flight carrier again in my next duty station, so while I'm still in Papua till August this year, I'll try to encourage myself to take picture of the aircraft later on (still working on to overcome my shyness to taking out the camera from my backpack, while walking to the aircraft....).

I love this photos. Also because my father used to pilot a small Cessna and i used to fly with him when i was a young child.
