Nepalese Traditional food: Bara
1. Ingredients: Black Lentil flour (Black Gram; vigna mungo),egg, green and dry garlic, ginger, onion, cilantro, cumin powder, salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder or cayenne pepper. Note: Preparing for Black Lentil flour: Soak Lentil at least over night so that when you rinse; you will be able to wash off black coating of Lentil. Grind in blender and flour is ready. |
2. Bara batter goes into non-stick frying pan [where two spoon of cooking oil is already heated] :)

3. 4-5 minutes of medium heat will bring this golden color and you just flip to other side!

4. If your Bara is soft and floppy with golden color; then you are ready for the breakfast! People in Nepal eat Bara as day time snack as well as a dinner.

5. Your Bara is ready and can be served with any side dish. Bara is high in protein!
This morning we ate this Bara as breakfast with coffee and my wife's favorite mix vegetable: Garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and pumpkin string vegetable :) |
