canal locks

There is a staircase of 5 or 6 locks near where I am staying. The canal is the Forth and Clyde, which connects Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The bricks are for traction to help open the heavy lock gates.

Between the locks are holding ponds which, as well as holding water, allow upward and downward boats to pass.

This one has the reflection of a tenement building.
