Cal day 7: Pt Reyes

megs is standing astride the San Andreas Fault. The fence lines represent how much the fault seperated- 16 feet- in an instant in 1906.

Drake's Beach, named for Sir Francis Drake, who may or may not have stopped here.

I had seen pictures of this boat and wondered how far I'd have to walk to find it. Basically, it's next to the road.

Wind sculpted tree on an old farm near Pt Reyes. Started in the mid 1800s, it was a working farm until recently.

Looking from Pt Reyes, which is a long peninsula that has been moving up the fault line- it used to be by L.A.- back towards the mainland

It is mating season for the elk, and much bugling was going on. These guys were not the dominant stags, so had their own group of losers just like you see in any bar on a Saturday night.

There were 6 of them in the group.

Also like any bar on Saturday night, the losers were spoiling for a fight, so I had to beat a retreat.

San Francisco from the top of Mt Tamalpais, where we had a picnic. One of the clearest days of the year, so they were having a controlled burn. Of course.
