SIS in the Summer - The Nature Trails
2008.07.17
The SIS Nature Trail was built as an Eagle Scout Project in the summer of 2007. It was officially opened on May 19, 2008 at a school wide outdoor ceremony that launched our inaugural Green Week activities. A student competition was held that officially named the trail network and its components. Above you can see "Kelso's Bridge" - the entry into our beautiful wooded sanctuary!

While hiking the "Go Green Trails" it is very easy to forget where you are. This is the view of SIS as you come out of the woods.

How fortunate I feel to be the principal of a school that contains a wealth of natural resources - places where children can exercise both bodies and imaginations!
A purposeful visit to these woods can enrich every subject area in our school's curriculum. At times, however, the only purpose needed is to show students that there is an escape from the stressors of the technological world. New generations must realize nature's restorative powers and commit to being its steward...
