Outdoors in the Winter!

2009.01.23
Appreciating the outdoors is a year-round opportunity at SIS. A snowshoe grant written by fourth grade teacher, John Badini, and awarded by the Somers Education Foundation makes our snow-covered grounds a place for adventure.

Here are fourth graders getting on their snowshoes and getting ready for a hike.

Here we are heading across our fields to the Go Green Trails.

Walking up the Bluebird Trail

Mrs. Rubenfeld and Mrs. Geckle pick up the rear!

We learn that snowshoing is great exercise! We take a well-deserved break in Nature's Classroom.

A good time is had by all.

Walking back to school with a racing heart and lungs filled with fresh air. Recent research also suggests that these kids will go back to the classroom more attentive and ready to learn!
