A few of my favorites

Poor Miss Havisham

Remember this?

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Ecclesiastes.
Take a peek at the 7th chapter and 9th verse.

Another favorite book - Song of Solomon 1st Chapter.

As a child after "chores" I would climb the apple tree in our yard hide from the world and read anything I could get my hands on. I grew up in a household of English andLiterature teacher

Among my favorites are:
Shakespeare- Othello
Oedipus at Colunus
The Color Purple
A Piece of Cake
Midnight in the Garden of Good/Evil
Works of Paul Laurence Dunbar

KerBear I see you have "To Kill A Mockingbird" in that first shot... I read it in grade 10 and LOVE it! It's such a fantastic book.... I think it may have also had something to do with a very incredible English teacher I had that year as well... unstoppable combination really! Great book and awesome teacher :)... Oh yes... and excellent set!

MHJphotos Amazing the differences in childhood memories. I was always a math, science and band geek! I still count things (you name it, I count them!) and never much enjoyed reading!

Cool that you grew up in the household of an English Lit teacher ... I'm sure that helped spawn your passion for reading!

photopoet Oh—so much to delight and ponder in this post. From Shakespeare— and as soon as I read 'Othello' I stopped to savor some lines, then I thought about how I'd like to see Oedipus at Colunus performed. The Color Purple is an all time favorite, that and Beloved. I've not read the next two books ( but I'll put them on a list to look into). I love the illustrations in your copy of Great Expectations and who can forget the scenes with Miss Havisham. Thanks for the bibical citations—it sent me off in another dirtection. May I share this: One person's candle is light for many. Talmud. Your post was like a candle.
