Tuesday Inspiration: τα πάντα ῥεῖ

Mark came up with a fascinating theme for this week's TI. When I have difficulty conveying an idea or concept, I think of its opposite, and this is what you have here.

The title is one of famous sayings by the "Weeping Philosopher", Heraclitus, who flourished on the cusp of the 5th century BCE. Another famous remark of his, one which (if you think in opposites) will give the whole game away, goes like this:

"You cannot step in the same river twice".

I believe he was a bloody-minded git who enjoyed fucking with people's minds (if he enjoyed anything at all). Any resemblance to me is purely coincidental, but as a counter-example of this week's theme, I couldn't do any better. This composite image was shot on the night of 21 February 2008 during the total lunar eclipse. I think it reflects quite accurately the opposite of this week's theme.

About the TI

The "Tuesday Inspiration” is a group of 60-odd (not “60 odd”) members posting a hidden theme on Tuesdays. It is not a contest or a challenge, just a bunch of people agreeing to post their interpretation of a single theme on Tuesdays. Each week one of the contributors sets the theme and everybody else can enjoy/guess what it is. If you would like to take part, please contact Helen Girafferacing.

SADHYA Has to be something around the passing of time, but the exact word (phrase) is not surfacing at the moment.
Great sequence, wish I could do that by Camera says No!

Nellinka Lovely composition.
I have recently visited the TWAN exposition in Hungary and I fell in love with such images but I'm afraid, I would enjoy just watching them. =)
When I was looking for a good interpretation of today's theme, I was constantly reminded how difficult the theme is to illustrate. I didn't even need to think of the opposite since it was already on my mind all the time. =)

girafferacing I love this - so much great detail and it's fascinating to see a movement which isn't visible to the eye in a single moment.
