338 -- My sleepy little town makes national news with our massive destruction!

2008.06.13
Adam's car got blocked in the driveway by this chunk of my neighbor's tree.

We decided to go for a walk and survey the damage. This is a couple houses down from me.

My house, and the huge pile of dislodged branches in front of it.

Across the street from my house.

This is my street, about a block from my house.

Just down my alley.

Everywhere you turn, there are trees down!

Lots and lots of trees.

And lots and lots of messed up sidewalks.

Downtown

Outside my friend Zach's house. (He actually watched this one fall!)

Still hanging in the power lines...

This house got completely engulfed by a giant tree!

Ouch!

And the flooding... did I mention the flooding? We actually didn't get that too bad, the water issues were mostly to the south of here.

This is my friend Sue's car. She just put $2000 into repairs on it, and still owes $600 of that. Not to mention that there is also a power line pinned in there, her purse (and her access to all her money) were in the trunk, and she couldn't reach her insurance agent. Needless to say, she was not having a good day.

Oak Hill... Tree removal begins!

This is Adam's driveway. You can see the side I am standing on in the right foreground, and Adam's mom standing on the other side. This used to be a tiny, lazy little creek. (They had to take a boat to his uncle's house next door to get out last night!)
