016 -- Warped Tour!!

Betsy and LeAnn with 2 of the guys from No Bragging Rights. They are from Cali and were broke -- the tour doesn't pay them they make all of their money on merch. They'd spent all of their money getting to Detroit from Maryland the day before, and had to scrape up enough to get to Chicago the next day. We hung out with them for about 20 minutes, trying to help them out a bit. And of course we bought a CD too. :D

For those not familiar with the term: The band has the crowd split up the middle, so there is a nice gap all the way back. Then, on their count, everyone runs toward the opposite side. The result is that for a breif moment, the entire crowd becomes a crazy mosh pit. This is the aftermath -- it was far worse just before this, but at that point I didn't dare take my camera out!

Welcome to downtown Detroit

Even though Detroit has such a bad reputation, it really is gorgeous downtown.

We met Oliver, who is tattoo artist Kat Von D's husband. Oliver is also a tattoo artist as well as a pro skater. He signed a poster for LeAnn and I took a picture of her with him!

During Coheed's sound check. I wish I had more pictures, but I put my camera away shortly after this because I feared for its safety! The crowd got restless waiting for the band to come out and it became a mob. Plastic bottles and shoes were flying through the air by the dozens. I got conked on the head probably about 10 times, and a few of those hits hurt like a mofo!! Then when they started things got super crazy. I love being right up front in the pit. You get the shit beat out of you but I find it fun for some peculiar reason. I always say, it isn't a great concert unless I almost die at least once.

Comerica Park, home of the Tigers! That's where the show was. Traffic was bottlenecked pretty bad in front of the park and it took us forever to get out!!

LeAnn spotted this little guy chillin' on the wall at a rest area we stopped at on the way from Detroit back to Betsy's aunt's house in Owosso. He was so cute, and looked so cool against the brick, that I HAD to take a picture!
