027 -- Wanderings

2007.08.07
I'm Johnny Fuckin' Appleseed, who the fuck do you think I am? Where do you get your apples?? (Okay, so that's really only funny if you are into obscure sock puppet theatre...)

Coniferousness

passageway

I like how the light was hitting the trees

Adonis... er, I mean Adam. King of the mountain!

If the ancient Greek had played football.

This cool mossy ferny stuff was growing all over the forest floor. I like it. Alot.

After about a dozen tries, I fiiiiinally got a butterfly to sit still long enough to snap a good shot!!

The creek spilling out from under the driveway

Adam's dad recently planted these in the creek. They are the coolness.

Looking down the shoreline... you can see the dredging boat by the pier that was in the shots from a couple of days ago.

Sunset time at Magoon Creek once again... It eventually fizzled out into the haze AGAIN (it still hasn't rained so it's still incredibly humid), but until the point where it disappeared into the fog it was gorgeous!

The clouds were this sunset's saving grace.

Probably my favorite from today...

Reappearing from behind the clouds

wavering

bisected

Some of the last cool moments... It didn't do anything spectacular once it emerged from the last wisp of cloud. The haze swallowed it and snuffed it out before it even hit the horizon. :(

Last time we photographed a sunset at Magoon Creek, we were on the beach. This time, we went to the bluffs instead. The best benefit of the bluffs is that they offer perspectives like this!

Waning moments

Adam and I went out to his parents' house for dinner and afterward we took a walk. We crossed the remains of an old orchard and wandered through the woods and the swamp. Adam took a set of photos as well. His is also a poem, and as a whole it's a beautiful work of art. You should check it out, but be warned that it's pretty graphic...

Afterward, we went to Magoon Creek to watch the sunset. The sun did a dance with the clouds and the water for a while and it was amazing. But once again the humidity ended up eating the sun, so once it got past the clouds it was fairly unimpressive. Still waiting for that perfect sunset to come along...

jameswaters So beautiful... It's hard to imagine (at least for me here in the desert) getting to experience the lush green forest side by side with the beach, but thank you for the chance to imagine it all!
