146 -- Branching Out

2007.12.04
I'm surprised my hand isn't uber-cramped from cutting all those teeny-tiny groceries out...

I've been working on these for three days now!

I decided that I needed to find a new avenue to take my crafting. I mean, I really enjoy making scarves and hats and necklaces, but I've been getting restless lately and just need something, well... new.

I started thinking about something I could do with recycled or repurposed items. I surfed Etsy.com for hours one day looking for inspiration. I got up and went out for a smoke, and when I came back in I brought my weekly Shopper's Guide with me. I pulled out the couple ads I actually look at and went to throw the rest away. That's when it hit me -- ads are the perfect source for decoupage because they have objects that are completely unobstructed and not overlapping.

In other recent surfings, I did a good amount of reading on bookbinding.

And so will soon be born the first in my series of super-funky blank books, which when complete will be available for purchase on my website at rowleydesigns.etsy.com. :D
