337 -- The night the world went topsy-turvey.
2008.06.12
The worst storm anyone can remember hit us hard. My mom called me to tell me there was a tornado warning and I needed to go to the basement. About five minutes later, as we were gathering candles and flashlights, the weather went insane. Wind took out trees by the dozens, and power lines in the process. After things calmed down a bit, we came back upstairs. The thunder was still rumbling loudly and constantly until at least 3 AM, so we were wide awake. We took every single candle we could find and, by arranging them with mirrors, made the bedroom bright enough to read.
