New Toy

2007.03.21

Brought one of these today.

If you've never used one it's a pretty strange experience.

Best way to describe it is like using a 3D mouse. The height you hold the pen and the pressure you use is just as important as your X & Y movements.

Seems completely unusable to start with.

After 10mins you kinda see what it's about.

After half hour it starts making sense.

After a hour (although your still making plenty of mistakes) a mouse starts to seems as effective as drawing with a brick.

I think it'll take a good month before I get it nailed, but I'm looking forward to it, and I'm sure it'll be worth it in the long run.

photopoet Someone down at the local coffee house uses the pad to do professional book illustrations. She says, "It's a learning curve, but once you get the knack it's easier than a pencil." The question becomes—how long to get the knack. Have fun.

t2d4th I am way interesting in these. Everything I read and people that I have spoken with say that once you learn it...you won't ever go back. Keep us posted on how you progress.
