The B&W flattens the scene. We are looking at a bar, full of life and action, in this case the use of color helps to communicate that excitement . Color makes it look like a warm, inviting place. This is not a good shot to work with B&W contrast manipulation and tonal range, it would simply make the scene appear more cold and gray. Color makes it look 'natural' and by association, welcoming.

Color.... much warmer, has a nice 'feel' to it. The b/w seems flat to me, not enough contrast going on, no place to focus.

Higher contrast color would make it more like an Edward Hopper painting...

Colour would be used if you wanted to advertise the place as warm and cozy .... But b+w ... for me ... is making a statement about city life or everyday people or .... whatever you want to see in it! Thanks for your comment :)

I agree with BlueLady that it depends on what you want to communicate.
