Few days ago, while I was shooting the damages on the coast of Rome, due to a big storm, I decided to go to the place where a poet was killed years ago.
Pier Paolo Pasolini was an Italian poet, intellectual, film director, and writer. He distinguished himself as a philosopher, linguist, novelist, playwright, filmmaker, newspaper and magazine columnist, actor, painter and political figure. He demonstrated a unique and extraordinary cultural versatility, in the process becoming a highly controversial figure.
On November 5 1975, he was killed at the Idroscalo of Ostia.
For years and years the official version has been: "killed by a young male"; at the time of murder, the focus had been pointed on the omosexuality of the poet and his "bad habbits".
With my friend Alessandro (reporter for CORRIERE DELLA SERA), I met the only one claiming Pasolini had been killed by few "bastards fascists".
After many meetings, long talks and lots of patience, we finally got the interview and photos with Sergio Citti, actor, author, film maker and very close friend of Pasolini.
The file was reopened but, at the moment, not one is under investigation...

BlueLady Although I've never been to Rome, I would easily recognise the place from Nanni Morreti's "Caro Diario".
Thanks for a great post...

DancingDolphin Thanks for a little education. I have a number of homosexual friends and it is my sincere hope that someday soon less people will find a need to be judgmental of other peoples sexuality.
