To answer the title question... Age matters to some people. To many others, what matters is the desire to live your life in every aspect... Your friend is beautiful. I wish I 'll have half her looks when I pass 50!

When I read the title I wanted to answer: for a fotographer it does matter. After reading your text, I agree fully with you. No it doesn't. Anyway I'm a little bit unhappy getting more wrinkles and grew hair. Does it matter to anyone? Who cares .... ;-D

For me personally, age does matter. I don't know how long I'll be alive, but I do know there is a maximum number of years I can have. I know my body will keep changing, and that there will be losses. And this prompts me to grow, to take chances, to do what I need to do in the time that I have. There is tremendous beauty in youth - a particular kind of beauty that doesn't last for most of us. Your friend has kept her youthful beauty, and that's wonderful. Without our youthful skin, muscles and energy, we are as richly human as ever, and I think the beauty of self-acceptance can grow with the letting go.
