Back to School Bows

I took my girl shopping for some back to school clothes this afternoon. This will be the "year of the leggings" at my house. She's at that odd size where size 6 isn't quite enough but size 7 is a mile too long in regular jeans and pants. So... we bought a lot of legging type outfits. When we got home I got a bee in my bonnet to make her some hairbows to match some of her new outfits. I haven't completed all that I intend to make her, but this was today's set of creations.

Makin' Momma Angry

I was testing my skills at hand holding my telephoto lens with my camera set at 1/60. Turns out I stink at that. However, while I was out in my yard I realized we have MORE baby birds in the nest! Momma and Pappa were busy this year! I was trying to photograph the little baby head sticking out when Momma began squaking at me and flying at my head. I got one shot of her that was worth sharing. All the baby shots are mostly nest and you wouldn't know there was a baby in there if I didn't tell you.

Since my children are being well taken care of this week and the weather was finally beautiful today, I decided to tour around with my camera and see what I could find. This was the first site I stumbled upon. I'm so blessed to live where open space is so easy to find. On a side note - my soon-to-be mentor, Wendy Schulz, is drawing the name of her next student today. Please, cross your fingers and say a prayer that she picks me. Seriously. I need good photo kharma here people.

Baby Jack

I was invited to photograph my friend's newborn today. What a pleasure! He is so very handsome. I love little newborns. I even got to photograph her giving him a bath! So he was fresh and sweet when I was holding him! Is there anything better?!

Stitches!

My girl fell and cut herself on the knee badly enough that she had to get stitches. Hubby and I were terribly upset that we were leaving her behind in another state with her grandparents for a week when she'd just hurt herself more than she ever has before! Fortunately, we were leaving her in the care of grandparents who love her *almost* as much as we do. Had she been at camp or something - she'd have been taken home for some Mom and Dad attention. She was very brave. Since the accident, she has been reported to be feeling fine and is even quoted to have said, "I'm glad this happened to me instead of the boys. They would have hurt and cried." Makes me want to go swoop down and love on her!

Art Abounds

Today we had driveway art. We invited the neighborhood kids that we play with most frequently to decorate crowns. It was a fun change from the usual summer games. After dinner, we went to a much bigger neighborhood art show. Our friend Kasey invited all the children in the neighborhood to create some art work and she hosted an art show. It was such a fun idea! They hung up all the art on the garage door for viewing and judging while all their guests mingled and enjoyed some light hourderves. They invited two neighbors who don't have young kids along with the mayor to judge the contest. How fun is that?! The mayor came to our neighborhood art show!
