I would have taken macros the whole time, but I was commissioned to take these photos for a magazine. So I was trying to capture what the readers would want to see, rather than what my crazy mind wanted to see, lol [see last entry].

*The Really Big News*
Apparently I was successful because several of my photos were PUBLISHED in the magazine! THESE SIX (plus one more which was a portrait I didn't like at all) were all printed on pages 10-11 of Expressions WGCU magazine, and I am very very VERY VERY excited about it :D

So these were the editor's choice. After seeing the last two entries, you can decide for yourself if this set is actually the best ;P

Powered by Photoblog.com

(And I say that with a grin, lol) You'll probably be getting some new comments on some of your old entries, because I haven't given up yet.

I just came back from vacation! I spent a week in Texas with my extended family (on my dad's side) and it was great. I have photos from the plane, my grandmother's garden, the pool at my aunt's house, and more... I'll post them as soon as I can.

=) Hope everyone is doing well.

This is what happiness looks like. I was very happy the day I took this portrait. It's very simple photo, I admit there isn't much to it, except for a basic expression of light, color, and happiness.

"There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."
-Carl Jung

That concept has been really important throughout the last couple years for me... I remain grateful for every obstacle, every challenge, and every painful experience... because ultimately, they strengthen and empower me.

One of the reasons I wanted to start a monthly theme of self portraits is to force myself to fight my insecurities. So I'm just putting it all out there, with only a couple small edits.

For self portrait day next month, I plan on expressing a deeper sense of what "Self" is... to me.

Yes, this is a new theme. Anyone interested in participating should simply post a photo of themselves on the first day of any month, and add the tag "selfportraitday" =)

Powered by Photoblog.com
