Este domingo se ha celebrado la primera etapa de Pirena. En el majestuoso entorno de La Partacua los 400 perros y los 33 mushers han comenzado un recorrido que les llevará hasta La Molina. Iker Ozcoidi ha sido el vencedor esta jornada en trineos y Lena Boysen Hillestad en skijoring. El recorrido de La Partacua era especialmente técnico, con muchas curvas cerradas y unos fuertes desniveles ascendentes y descendentes. La etapa ha cruzado los lagos helados de Piedrahita y de Bachato y se ha ido empinando durante la primera mitad hasta alcanzar casi los 2.000 metros de altitud, 400 más que la salida. Tras alcanzar la cima, el recorrido se ha encaramado hacia la meta en un descenso vertiginoso, que en algunos tramos ha llegado hasta el 40%. En total, han sido 29 kilómetros de un recorrido sinuoso en plena naturaleza. Pirena 2009 will take place from 17th to 31st January 2009. In the core of the Aran Valley, where we find the prominent ski resort Baqueira Beret, three stages will be carried out: Pla de Beret, the magical nocturnal Beret – Montgarri and Pla de Beret – Pla de Beret. In the graceful slopes of Port Ainé, in the region of Pallars Sobirà, we will reach the highest point of our route, the Peak Orri 2,440 meters, where a great part of Catalonia can be contemplated. In France we will follow the splendid snow paths on Plateau de Beille, the largest cross-country ski resort in the Pyrenees, where two stages will take place, a nocturnal and another one discovering the beginning of a new day. Once in Andorra, Grandvalira and La Rabassa will receive us with pleasure. In Grandvalira-Soldeu El Tarter we will enjoy the magic of the night on its well-marked pistes. In Grandvalira-Grau Roig trails surrounded by magnificent snowed mountains will be our scenery. La Rabassa-Naturlandia with the image of Andorran summits and the mountain range Cadí represents the return to the countryside opened to forests and fields. Back to Spain, in La Molina, we will culminate the final stage in this ski resort, which is the most ancient one in Spain. Magnificent pistes, final stage, the warmth of the public and the great final Winter Party of La Molina and Pirena, which has become a classic one in the Pyrenees with a record of citizens in a Party, will be the ingredients. The trail in La Partacua is quite technical with many closed curves and strong unevenness. From 1,550 meters and crossing the frozen lakes of Piedrafita and Bachato, the way went up in the first part to almost two thousand meters. From there the region of Huesca and the South of France were visible. Navarra was protagonist in this first stage of Pirena. Iker Ozcoidi (1 hour, 17 minutes and 20 seconds) and Jesús Raigoso (2 minutes and 36 seconds after Ozcoidi), both from Pamplona, were first and second. Among the large present audience in La Partacua there was the well-known cyclist Miguel Indurain, who did not want to miss the magic of the big white route in the Pyrenees. Third in the stage was the Czech Pavel Pfeifer, while in skijoring the Norwegian Lena Boysen Hillestad arrived first. The Norwegian sportswoman is the real world dominator in this class. She has been world champion 17 times and also 14 times European Champion. Hillestad has stated: "this has been spectacular! because of the technical trail as well as the natural scenery. I've had much fun with the ups and downs of the trail The land in Norway is very flat and monotonous". Hillestad decided to enter Pirena and not the World Championships which takes place in Canada this year. She has said:"I love this race: the landscape, the people, the cold in the mountains, the vets quality... everything!".
