I just thought this was a sight to see. All those legs.

That's it for today.

Cheers.

Well, low and behold, today was that day.

After work and a lovely dentist appointment, I headed home to get Nick and drive out to the surprise. I had warned him not to get too excited, that it wasn't anything extraordinary, but that it was more of an homage to our first "anniversay" celebration. Nick had taken me out to the Everson Museum in Syracuse to see a movie under the stars, "This Island Earth".

I scoured the internet to find local 'movie under the stars' type venues and came across one in Long Beach that was showing Casablanca.

Nick and I had never seen the film and when we went to our first Hollywood Bowl event, they played the ending of the movie while the orchestra followed along with the music. It was beautiful and seemed like a movie that we would like, so I thought that it was the perfect choice for a little surprise.

Indeed it was. We had a great time and although the process was a little rough around the egdes (technical difficulties, seating arrangements, etc.) it was worth the hour drive to get there.

Also making it totally worth while was the prize that I won from the free Charter raffle. Actually it was wicked cheesy, but pretty hilarious as well ~_^

By the end of the night I had a whopping headache due to the bad angle that we were viewing from, and I was happy to get in the car and sleep all the way home.

Overall, a sucess.

Here's lookin' at you, kid.

Cheers.

Local lore says that this fountain was created and donated by a USC graduate whose intent was to have it resemble a flushing toilet, a hurrah in the never ending battle between UCLA and USC.

Surely it's not true, but it is kind of funny. Most of all, it's a rather pleasant spot to sit and relax.

After work Nick and I went out for an early dinner (as neither of us had lunched) at The Cat & Fiddle, by recommendation of my good friend Lee. This place is a total haven in the middle of downtown Hollywood. You would never know that outside it's beautiful tropical and Spanish flavored walls, lays the hustle bustle of a trafficy city life. We had some fantastic sandwiches and then hurried ourselves to the car wash, thrift store, and to our ultimate destination, The Vista to FINALLY see The Dark Knight.

Which was awesome. As I'm sure you've heard. I'd like to see it again WITHOUT the crowd. I think they interfered with what it was truly about.

Until tomorrow!

Cheers.

I thought it would be a good idea to leave a little early and check out the deals at the local shoe store. I of course looked all through the clearance but gosh darn, they had the most butt-ugly clearance shoes I've EVER seen! Nothing good at all. It was a good time waster though.

I headed down to meet Nick and we took a jaunt around Ralph's picking up some odds'n'ends with some seriously good deals!

Do you see the color of those drinks? How creepy is that! That can't be healthy.

Anywho, in for the night after a quick $50 spent.

Until tomorrow!

Cheers.

Black coffee and loafing around.

I alphabetized our dvd collection while watching various of my favorites for most of the day. By the time Nick got home I still hadn't showered so I figured it was a lost cause. We made nachos for dinner and sat around watching more movies for the rest of the night.

A free and easy Saturday!

Not knowing what this movie was, and not having had one single after work social outing since moving here, I of course said yes.

I thought that it would be nice to have a bit of a girls night out, so I invited my friend Lee to join in the festivities.

We were scheduled to meet up with Marita at the theatre around 7:30. Lee and I live just blocks apart on Hollywood Blvd, so we rode together. As neither of us are from LA, and neither of us had looked for directions to the meeting place...we got totally lost. Luckily we got lost in a circle and made it back to out starting point and got back on track, only making us 45 minutes late.

We met up at Universal CityWalk which is like a themepark with no rides, a giant haven for touists in the form of an outdoor mall...it was insane and LOUD. This is not somewhere that I would have probably ever gone unprompted, but we did have a lot of fun.

After finding Marita, the three of us decided to go to Bubba Gump's for drinks and dinner. Lee and Marita hadn't really ever met so it was nice to sit down and chat before the movie. Our waiter didn't have a nametag and called himself Haroldo, so I have to assume that this was some sort of clever alias to disguise his identity from the crazies that no doubt litter the CityWalk night after night. We spent something like an hour and half here and on our way out were so fortunate to have inadvertantely paid for three giant Bubba Gump souveneir glasses ("complimentary with the purchase of a $12 Louisiana Lemonade"). If we hadn't looked touristy enough with my camera out at dinner, we certainly did now with our Bubba Gump bag'o'glasses.

We trotted ourselves back to the theatre, running a touch late, but were able to find seats near the front and only missed a few previews. Then...the real fun began.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with Mama Mia, I'm sure you've at least heard of it, as I had, but I really didn't know what to expect. I was thinking like a modern day Grease, as I'd heard it was a kind of girly musical.

I ended up laughing and being entertained, but I'm pretty sure it was at all the wrong times. It was incredibly silly and the music was incredibly...abba. I couldn't believe how many famous faces there were in this, but the fame didn't help the movie unfortunately. I had a hard time taking it seriously because it was just so over the top. The worst part of the whole thing is that I've had the song 'Mama Mia' stuck in my head ever since, and I only know the words Mama Mia, so it's just a constant over and over jaunty phrase jiggling around in my brains. My hope is that someday soon...it will go away.

One hugely redeeming quality was the scenery in which it took place. Greece looks absolutely gorgeous and I've since made Nick promise to take me there, although I heard that his grandparents just sold their land. I've decided that if I ever get married, it's going to be in Greece dammit!

Moving on, Lee and I parted with Marita, guaranteeing that we would have to do this more often. The two of us headed back down into Hollywood, parked the car, and met up with Nick and her boyfriend and his buddies at their favorite local bar, Boardners. It was so nice to finally meet her boyfriend Art and his friends Mike and Roc, who I've heard so much about on our weekly lunch dates. Not to mention, I was glad to be able to introduce Nick to her and all of them.

We stayed out until after two when they closed the bar and the whole lot of us went back to Lee & Art's apartment after grabbing some pizza slices to go. Their complex is really great, atmospherically and location wise. It was so nice to be out enjoying other people's company for the first time since we've been here. Realising the Nick had to get up for work in the morning, we got ourselves to finally say goodbye a little after 3am.

Not wanting to walk up Hollywood Blvd in the middle of the night and risk getting mugged (the train stops running after 1am), we went for the back way up Franklin Ave. WAY safer, if a little longer. We had good conversation all the way home and our heads hit the pillow somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00.

It was a fantastic evening overall. I unfortunately can't recommend seeing Mama Mia unless it's a)$5 b)you've been drinking or c)really like cheesy ABBA musicals.

Cheers and love my people.

At the time, they all seemed like things that we just couldn't live without anymore.

However...now that we've been innundated with boxes atop boxes...we have no idea where we're going to put all this crap!

Anywho, I certainly AM happy that my movies are finally here! I've been dying for my movies, being stuck with only Nick's for the past 6 months! Sometimes ya just have to pop your favorite movie in while you're photoblogging, know what I mean?

Ahhh, it's Friday tomorrow. Fantastic.

Until then!

Cheers.

One of the better thirfty purchases I made while out and about in Syracuse.

My mother told me that it was butt-ugly when she saw it, but I got 5 compliments today at work! So I had to take a few pictures to prove to her that it looked better on than it did wadded up in the laundry :-P

Besides, who doesn't love polyester in the 90degree heat?

Until tomorrow kids!

Cheers.

This is our new shower curtain!

Funny thing, it's the same as our old one...except this one is blue and not orange! woo!

ANNNNDDDDDD I'm caught up. Finally. It's so liberating!

Now, I'll have time to catch up on everyone else's blogs ^_^

Cheers!
