Bird of Alcatraz

Taken last month, as the sun was setting on the bay area of San Francisco, I noticed this Gull sat on a railing whilst trying to take pictures of Alcatraz. Creeping closer without distrurbing it away, I took a few shots with Alcatraz in the background - the best one though had the old prison island out of focus.

I have been revisiting some of my old prints and scanning them into the computer and then cleaning them up. This was taken back in June 2001 from the top of the Empire State Building and I have done a bit of work to change the colour print into a black and white shot.

California Street, San Francisco

I recently got back from a holiday to San Francisco and took this shot there. This is looking down from a mid way point on California Street out towards the bay. I had to quickly snap this as I crossed the road to get the central point in the road - to have stood there and carefully composed a shot and took it would have run the risk of being run over by a car, bus or a trolley bus! The trolley buses (or Trams where I come from) are a requirement on some of the steep hills in San Francisco - I don't know how the locals get on without them.

Cop Bikes in San Francisco

Snapped using my camera phone, I saw this line of motorcyles belonging to San Francisco Police. They were parked outside "Lefties" which serves a great breakfast, and their owners were all in there enjoying a bite to eat. They were sat at a back table in the restuarant and sadly there was not room at their table for me! Instead I took a table all on my own and wrote a few postcards, read the paper and ate alone.

Again, from the London Premier of Iron Man a couple of weeks ago. This was a hastily taken shot (as can be seen by the person next to me breaking into the frame with their own camera!) as Downey Jnr arrived at the cinema in London.

Another Virgin

This is a shot taken on the flight to San Francisco. I flew Virgin Atlantic (felt that the service had gone down since I flew with them last year if I'm honest) and took a few during the flight out of the window at various stages and will post others on later blogs. To see a shot from my flight last year, it is listed as "Virgin" much earlier in my blog entries.

In London last week killing time before a theatre visit, I walked through Leicester Square and saw that there was a Premier for the film Ironman. Managed to shoot a few shots of the action, and this was one of them. Only a few years ago, all you needed was a decent eye, a long lens and a loud voice to shout at the famous.... now it appears you need an Apple Mac too..... .... unless they were bloggin' on photoblog!
