~~~~~~~
let's get everyone up to speed:
i sold all my gear to fund my moving to New York City for a few months to lock down some high profile photo clients and take a few classes that i need to finish up some jewelry related schooling i started a few years ago. this is my backup plan in case photojournalism falls flat.
life is about options i've found out lately and i'd like to keep as many doors open as i can.
However, no gear means no shooting, hence no updates...i've got no gear other than a pretty unreliable rangefinder from the '60s.
the good news is i've picked up and been negotiating with a few clients up here on some exciting assignments, including one that looks to be a long term overseas deal that i'm wrapping up negotiations on...which includes new gear, haha.
so i guess bear with me? i've got a lot of film to scan and soup.
Also, i may be relocating permanently to the city, but that's still up in the air. there are just way too many things going on right now...
Powered by Photoblog.com
i started eating it when i lived in Gainesville and it's been a nice treat ever since. it's pretty cheap for sushi, probably about six bucks for 12 pieces, but some portions still go up into the $10 to $12 range which is kind of pricey.
either way though, i love it.
i tried this last year and it epically failed, so that's where the title comes from.
for whatever reason when i email a photo with text for a post, only the photo goes up.
so expect some random mobile posts more often now.
maybe this can be fixed by photoblog staff, but probably not since they're moving on to another project. sigh.
i tend to fall into the former rather than the latter, there's magic in every shot if you do it right guys.
following on that tradition, i made a prayer bracelet that was shown to me many many years ago by a friend that used to travel to Brazil quite a bit.
you write your pyaer or wish on a strip of cloth and tir it to your wrist, and do the same on another strip of cloth and tie it to a tree.
when both strips have fallen off, your prayer will be answered.
~~~~~~~

i made one of these tonight, and tied it to the strap of my camera where the ribbon was tied on.

a good friend of mine gave me that ribbon the night before i left kentucky to move back to florida and it's been on for almost a year and a half, ever since.

it's a new era though, and since i can't wear home made bracelets with the line of work that i'm doing right now, i figured there was no better place to put it than my camera's strap.

i'll put the second strip on a tree at the end of the world after i see Bon Iver tomorrow.

bea got the idea from me and she alread did hers without me, blah.

Powered by Photoblog.com

~~~~~~~
i shot the roll of ektar that cameron gave to me a few weeks ago while she was here to see what it would look liek and i'm thoroughly impressed.
looks like this could be the color neg film that i like to use. more and more i see myself jumping towards film again. i mena digital has its place, but film just has something that digital can't touch.
there's just some magic in shooting a roll, processing it in your own bathroom and scanning it that maybe makes me more attached to the image?
personally i think it's not being able to see what you get and trust your instincts on exposure and focus and then moving on that makes it.
digital is just too easy to nit-pick and at the end of the day it's just too damn perfect.
