Something unknown, something hides, and lies around the corner... To all my dear friends, I apologise for my absence of late. Indeed, for my many absences over the past two months. I am not saying sorry to free myself of guilt, but because I've actually missed you all, and the strong sense of community here. At the moment, I am not well. I have been in and out of hospital for tests, and the specialist I am seeing is continuing to try to find out what is wrong. It has meant that it's been hard to be online, let online pick up my camera. Until we know what is wrong and it can be treated accordingly, I will be an irregular figure on here - my lifestyle has had to adjust significantly to take things a day at a time. Not an easy task for me, given how restless I am at the best of times ;) So, if I have neglected to reply to your comments, I am sorry. I already feel as if I have missed a lot - I know I have certainly missed my daily fix of all of your inspiring, challenging and evolving images. I will endeavour to make up for that. Maybe all we are is who we are in one moment in time... Lately my self has been defined by my inner physical self, which has been unwell for a while now. That imbalance is manifesting in my appearance, with my face getting gaunt, eternal dark circles under my eyes, weight loss and my clothes hanging off ungracefully, and looking paler than I normally do (yes, it is possible :P) It leads me to think that perhaps we never really change. This experience doesn't define me nor really change me. It will evolve me, give me a different perspective and grow me, but perhaps, really, at the core of it all, I am still who I was before this started... Inside us all there are some things only we know about ourselves. It's those little things, maybe a dream, a thought, a memory, a trait, that never change. What never changes in me is the fact that I know, I cannot possibly know everything... that is the single greatest challenge, living in the dark... and it is also the single greatest joy :)

Autumn's end

Autumn is fast approaching it's end, here in the southern hemisphere. The days are colder, the nights seem longer, and the time for soup and hearty meals is fast approaching. With but a few days left until winter officially arrives, I found myself hoping the Japanese maple in my parents' backyard could just stay the way it is... for just a little bit longer...

After Dark

Saturday night, this weekend just past, was my first night out in quite a long time. I went out with my best mate, and my boy, for dinner, drinks and a band's album launch at a local pub. My health has, and unfortunately, is still holding me back, so this was a rare treat. Naughtily, I even indulged in my favourite drink: an espresso martini :) This set was all about challenge: challenge for me to stay out and awake; and a challenge to shoot creatively with minimal light. I happily welcome any suggestions/constructive criticisms :)
