Sorry I missed Caturday. I am taking off Friday for another wonderful adventure. This time in our Jeep. My father-in-law is coming out so up to the Mountains we go. Only on 4 wheels this time. ;) and bringing lots of water!! Have a great weekend everyone!! Be safe and have a blast!!!

WOW what an adventure... Or what a grueling hike!! Nothing like going straight up for 6 miles!! Whew!! I need a MTN. DEW! Where is the air in Colorado anyway?? wheez gasp wheez!! Ran out of water on Saturday.. Well actually we passed on eating dinner Saturday night so we could have one 16 ounce bottle of water between the 2 of us for the 6 mile trip back.. I tell ya I have been chugging gator ade by the gallons since we got back to the Jeep!! I hope to feel better by Thursday?? We have another hike planned for this weekend? Only a day hike though...

This is a Shorebird sort of. They nest in open ground or grassy mushy areas of a pond. They are very annoying,but cool too. They are the alarm for other birds when I am around. When I am stalking an Egret or Heron they fly over my head and make a very high pitched sound letting the whole wild kingdom know where SheriJ is!!

These snaps are of a Gold Mine in Victor Colorado! The Mine is still operating today and the Mining Company is still expanding!! They are just about ready to strip another Mountian!! There has been quite a few law suits,but nothing can stop this Mining Company from stripping the land. They have paid fines for heavy use of chemicals and other stuff. The fines have totaled hundreds of thousands of dollars,but what's that compared to making 10 million a month?? Even the Sierra Club lost the battle to this Mining Company!! Such a shame to see such destruction!!

This is a Ferruginous Female Hawk My husband and I pass by this Hawk everyday on our way to work and then again on the way home. I have posted her photo before she may look familiar? We have been watching her for 4 years.. This year was a special year because she had 4 babies and they all survived!! We see them once in awhile sitting on fence posts and learning to fly. I will post their grown up photos at another time.

These too cool looking Dudes are Mountain Goats.. We were hiking at about 12,500 feet when we came across these 2. WOW we were so close we could hear them breathing it was AWESOME!! More cool critters to come tomorrow!!! We saw about 4 or 5 different critters in one day!!

We Have Spots!!!

TWIN Fawns... Mule Deer Babies!! These fawns are just a few hours old.. Our neighbor came over and asked us if we wanted to take some snaps of some new baby fawns. These fawns still needed Mom to get them all cleaned up and spit shined. When we found them we saw that they still had the birth goo on them.. We didn't stay long or touch them we didn't want to have our scent on the new born babies. We came back to this place after a couple of hours to see if Mom was taking care of them and she was.. :) Probably won't see this again in our life time... It was amazing to witness!!!

Flying Into Friday!!!

I know this guy isn't flying,but it was quite the challenge to snap a Dragon Fly with a 400mm fixed. They look pretty small from 11 feet away... This has been an awfully busy week. Every night has been 10:30 pm or later to get to bed... I have to be up by 3:45 am woof.... Sure makes for a short night!! Hope everyone had a great week!! I will catch up on comments this weekend??? Maybe??? I have a Birds of Prey outing to go to this Saturday!! I am so jazzed I can't take it!!!! Be safe have fun this weekend!!!
