In stark contrast to the garish frivolity of its grander counterpart no more than a mile away and several hours ago, I felt myself overcome by a wave of stoic melancholy as I gazed upon the long-abandoned pier. But how little was I to know that I would soon see life once again in black and white&hellip;

I still see my glory days past
Ere the break of ill wind on mast
Hope dashed by anchor miscaste

I once reached out across the tide
To walk on the skyline astride
My joy my fear never to hide
Faith misplaced in the great divide

But I was to be less than grand
No stone nor wood would ever mend
A lonely pier alone I stand
Love found then lost unto the end</em></strong>
