Camping with Friends

This weekend we went camping with Tim, Keith, Leslee and Nicki to Penrose State Park near Gig Harbor. We had a blast! We got there a little late on Friday because Rob C had a meeting at work, so it was almost dark when we arrived but we got our tent up and situated just before it got dark. We sat by the fire the first night eating smores and hotdogs. The second day Keith made eggs for breakfast (yum) and then we took the dogs for a walk to the beach and let them play in the water. Later we played a few rounds of Uno before settling back into our ring around the fire to talk and laugh. Can't wait to do it again!

David & Zach Visit

David and Zach came to visit for the 4th of July. We did a TON of Seattle sight-seeing including a visit to Pike's Place Market, Snoqualmie Falls, Bainbridge Island and the Space Needle... and shopping of course!

Cooper, Abby and the Kiddie Pool

It was a warm summer day and Sheri invited Cooper over to play in the pool with Abby. Cooper's a bit opposed to LAYING in water, but he loves to jump, splash and "chomp" the water so he had a blast. Cooper and Abby would chase each other around the gazebo and end with a dive into the pool. Once Cooper ran a bit too fast and fell out the other side of the pool. Wish we got that on the camera!

Mt. Rainier with Doug and Joy

This weekend our friend Doug was in town from Phoenix. It was a beautiful, warm summer day so we decided to visit Mt. Rainier. We couldn't have asked for better weather. We went to the "Paradise" side, on the south side of the mountain, because "Sunrise" (on the North and closer to us in Seattle) was still closed due to snow. As you can tell, there's still a LOT of snow up there! We drove to the lodge and parked then hiked onto the mountain in the snow. It's strange that it's warm enough for shorts and teeshirts, yet you're walking in snow. After a short hike we made our way back down to the lodge and had lunch at the restaurant there.

Seattle Cheese Festival

Saturday, May 17, was the Seattle Cheese Festival. All the local cheese makers and distributors get together at the Pike Place Market and allow Seattlites to try their cheeses. Phill, Melissa and Rob C were there for work. Mona, Matt and Rob M were there for fun (and cheese!). We walked the booths a little then went to a reception a vendor was holding with a french cheese maker. We then headed over to another company's reception. To close the night we headed back over to a restaurant for a vendor dinner dinner and were greeted with views of the Olympic Mountains at sunset.

Home Sweet Home

After spending the night in Paris, we were glad to be back. Cooper was thrilled to see us, but exhausted from all of the play time.

Unexpected night in Paris

After spending hours in the Paris airport trying to find Corey, we decided to head into Paris once we discovered he was on a plane....somewhere. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person was a magical experience.

Rome, Part II

Our second day in Rome focused on ancient Rome and it's ruins. We saw the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine and the Circus Maximus.

Rome - Part I

We left the villa today and headed for Rome! We went straight to the hotel first to check in and drop off our luggage. Then we took Corey, Tara and Jenna and walked over to the Vatican City to try to see the Sistine Chapel but we got there a little late and the line was, well, a "little" long. So we walked back to Rome and met up with the rest of the family so we could go to the Pantheon. Later Rob and I split off to explore the city. One of the first things we found was a small city block that contained ruins. Upon reading the signs we learned it was the spot that Julius Caesar had been assasinated. We also noticed there were a lot of cats, and upon further reading, learned the space was a cat sanctuary - for 250 cats. Bizzare! We walked over a good part of the city finding piazzas, monuments and markets before returning to the hotel to meet up with the group for dinner. On the way to dinner we stopped by the Fountain of Trevi and took some photos. Dinner was excellent, complete with a private room (!), and then we walked to the Spanish Steps.
