....to retrieve a stick??? Two, evidently. I walked on the beach today with a friend and her dog, Orion. Stella and Orion were swimming in Cook Inlet, must be all of 33 degrees or so - way too cold for me!!

But if you break, continue to bend! What do you have to lose?? Soldotnamanda and I first saw this tree in November or so - we could hear it up ahead on the trail creaking in the strong wind. When we saw where the noise was coming from we made a big point of not getting too close - we thought that at any minute the tree could come crashing down. Well, I just visited that tree a couple of days ago and it is still hanging in there. As the wind gusts the gap gets to a good foot and a half wide - but the tree pulls itself together and stands tall still. Never give up.....

Spalted Birch

I found this birch piece in the woods a couple of winters ago. It was about 8 feet high (dead) and had some very interesting knobs on it. The next time I walked out that way I took my hand saw and cut a 5 foot piece and hauled it home...man, I must have wanted it bad cause it got really heavy after a couple of miles!! I cut the end yesterday and found this little gift inside....nature is quite the artist, huh?

Anyone sick of the "Money Tree"???? I sure am!!! After a long, unplanned break from blogging I am back to it. Thanks for those that wondered about me and checked in - much appreciated. I doubt I'll be posting every day but I sure hope to get on here a few times a week...if not to post myself at least to check on all you other bloggers!

I found out that my Mom, Dad and big Bro are all watching my blog....since they live 3,000 miles away it is a fun way for them to see what I am up to. I miss them every day...but they know I love where I live so I think they are happy for me :) The last shot is for them...me framed in snow - it is as close to a self portrait as I can get and it certainly catches me "how I am"! I should note that on the first image that is as I shot it, after the hour went by and I added the horns the sun was different and the image was harder to see so I hit the "enhance" button - first time I have ever done that and I did give it more contrast but I have to say I don't like the purple effect it gave it.

I know people are tired of winter, and I understand that...it's just that I'm not - yet! I will not be offended one bit if all of you warm blooded bloggers skip my post...in fact I recommend you check out soldotnamanda's blog - she has some lovely warm weather shots to get your blood moving again!!
