We don't have an animal control officer in our small town, and the dog catcher is on medical leave because of surgery. So who do you call? The sheriff, of course.

First they were going to use the shotgun, but the skunk was too close to the retaining all and they didn't want to damage the wall. So, they bring out the Glock .40. They then shot the skunk not once, not twice, but seven times. And the thing was still trying to get up.

One piece of advice, though, if someone is going to be firing a pistol outside of your office in the middle of the day, you should probably warn people. Because we had several customers get a little nervous when they heard the shots.

It has now, however, passed on to the big stinky place in the sky. Farewell, Flower, I barely knew thee.

Powered by Photoblog.com

This is Jon's office. A few weeks ago the toilets stopped up, backing up all the way to the bathrooms upstairs. His office happens to share a wall with the bathrooms, and when the pipes overflowed, the "water" came running down his walls. We had to have the office repainted and cleaned to make in inhabitable again.

Today there was more drama. The guy mowing our grass had the mower pointed toward the building and he threw a very large rock all the way across the parking lot and through a double plane window into this same office. It broke the window, flew across the office and put a hole in the wall. Luckily for Jon he was out of the office at the time. But this is what he found when he returned this afternoon.

Powered by Photoblog.com

I got up bright and early Wednesday morning and hit the road with my buddy J-Go to take photos of the sun rising behind the skyline. And if you go check out his photos, you'll even be treated to a shot of me in action. I know that'll make you all want to run right over and check it out.

As an added bonus, I shot a few sets with the intention of stitching them together into a panorama. You can see the other shots another day, I just want to show off my panorama now.

What can I say, I'm a nerd with a new toy.

Powered by Photoblog.com

I didn't quite make it, but I wracked up quite a few votes in less than 48 hours, and I owe a lot of them to all of you in the Photoblog community.

These are a few photos from a wedding I shot Sunday. It is so easy to shoot way too many pictures at a wedding, but much harder to whittle them down afterwards. I took right at 300 shots and managed to get it down to about 170 to present to the family. These are a few of my favorites.

Powered by Photoblog.com

Well, I'm trying to be and you can help me out by going to this site and voting for me.

It gives me a shot at hosting a new show on The Discovery Channel that is all about blowing stuff up. Below are the requirements they are looking for. If you think I'm the guy for it, please go cast your vote.

Discovery Channel is searching for a male host to go on location for the weekly series "Super Testing." The show explores the world of extreme testing – a world of explosions, planned crashes, and controlled chaos.

We’re looking for someone who is:

* In his late 30s to early 40s.

* Smart – he needs to be credible in his interactions with scientists and engineers. Science, stuntman, or engineering background is a strong plus. He does not have to be an “expert” in science or engineering per se, but should grasp the science or engineering concepts at least well enough to ask the kind of intelligent questions that our intelligent viewers appreciate.

* Tough, but an “Everyman” – He should be credible dealing with military officials, mechanics, pilots, test subjects – the whole range of folks who build things and sometimes blow things up all in the name of progress. Military, construction, or mechanical engineering background is a strong plus. He should come off as knowledgeable but likeable – and definitely a man’s man.

* Charismatic, but not too “hosty” – He should be able to explain the who-what-where-when-how of the testing in a clear, direct, and always conversational way. We need someone who seems comfortable in his own skin and comfortable on camera. But he should also be comfortable letting the light shine on the real stars of the show – the people who he encounters, who make “super testing” a reality.

Powered by Photoblog.com

The Lexington Legends were playing the Columbus Catfish. It was the first time I have ever watched a live baseball game that I wasn't playing in. Not because I'm some wonderful player, I just haven't been to a game since I was in about 8th grade. I'm a football fan, myself, but it was fun.

The Legends were down 5-2 at the end of the 8th when we left. I would have stayed till the end, but as it was I didn't get in bed until almost 1:00 in the morning, so I'm a little tired today.

Powered by Photoblog.com

They are the reason I went Friday night. An online friend turned me on to them six months or so ago, and I've been watching to see if they came anywhere close so I could see them live.

It was everything I hoped it would be. They are great musicians, with solid harmonies and awesome lyricists. If you enjoy live music that makes you want to dance around, jump up and down, and maybe shed a tear or two, I highly recommend you check them out.

Now enjoy some of their music.

Talk On Indolence This is the song that hooked me on their sound.

Paranoia in Bb Major

And on the softer side

The Weight of Lies

Murder In The City This will be on their new cd coming out today. If you only listen to one of the songs I posted here, make it this one. And listen to the lyrics, because that is where their true talent lies.

As you can tell from the photos, I was right down front. Most of the crowd was made up of 15-25 year old fans, but I was right in amongst them, dancing inappropriately for someone my age.

Hey, someone has to teach these kids how to rock.

Powered by Photoblog.com

I went because there was one band there that I really wanted to see, but as always, I came away with several new bands to love.

This is Jonell Mosser. She had a great, soulful voice and was very free about dancing around the stage. You could tell she truly loves what she does. The one thing that annoyed me was that she was an incessant name dropper. But once she started singing, it was magic. I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have, because I was too busy dancing a little myself.

I loves me some music. Give her a listen here.

I play a little bass, and I love to play the drums. Jonell's drummer was Craig Kampf. If you don't know the name, that's okay, but he's been around a while and played with most of the best performers in the world, in all genres. Some of the artists he has worked with include:

Leon Russell
Steve Perry (of Journey Fame)
Alice Cooper
Kim Carnes
Melissa Ethridge
Dolly Parton
The Motels (Martha Davis)
Patty Loveless
Tanya Tucker
Alabama

The guy can really play. You can tell he's starting to get up there in years, but he plays with the heart of an 18-year old rock and roller.

Powered by Photoblog.com
