Bunnies

Sorry I haven't post in a while. But in celebration of Easter and in honor of the Easter Bunny, I'm finally doing a post on bunnies...my neighbor's bunnies that is. These pictures were taken a few years back (2006) when these guys had been raiding my garden in the past, and were finally caught red-handed. Such troublemakers they were, but nonetheless, they were good model as well. I have not seen these guys of late, so I'm assuming they still do well in my neighbor's backyard :p

"Spaceship Earth"

I visited Disney World last month while attending a conference, so I had the opportunity to do a sideline visit to Epcot (one of Disney Theme Parks). The most interesting feature that attracted me to this park is probably this easily recognizable architecture of Epcot, "Spaceship Earth". Being a fan of interesting architectural landmark, "Spaceship Earth" certainly attracted my attention. Spaceship Earth is a geodesic sphere supported on legs. Geometrically, Spaceship Earth is a pentakis dodecahedron, with each of the 60 isosceles triangle faces divided into 16 smaller equilateral triangles (with a bit of fudging to make it rounder). Each of those 960 flat panels is sub-divided into four triangles, each of which is divided into three isosceles triangles to form each point. In theory, there are 11,520 total isosceles triangles forming 3840 points. In reality, some of those triangles are partially or fully nonexistent due to supports and doors; there are actually only 11,324 of them, with 954 partial or full flat panels. Inside "Spaceship Earth" houses a recently updated ride called "Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future". The ride experience begins with the Omnimover vehicles ascending into a dark tunnel. A series of twinkling stars surround guests. Soon, guest's pictures are taken on a face-recognition program that is to be featured in the attraction's post-show. Guests then re-enter the starfield, and move through series of historical scenes of human society. The remainder of the ride is involved in seeing a depiction of Earth from space, traveling through an infinite amount of stars and into another star field where guests can then use the touch-screens in their Omnimover vehicle to create a possible depiction of their future.

IllumiNations: Reflection of Earth

I got lucky enough to view IllumiNations: Reflection of Earth, a fireworks show performed nightly at Epcot at the Walt Disney World twice in one week while attending a conference there in January. The first visit was while attending the vendor dinner, the second visit was later in the week when I went and visit Epcot on my own. I certainly had fun practicing my skill in photographing fireworks and light show.

Simple Joy of Gardening

One of my simple joys in life is gardening. I'm so glad spring is almost here, so I can start working in my garden again. I can't wait to see all my flowers, esp. my roses to bloom again :) Here's are some of my pride and joy roses from last season.

Total Eclipse Experience

My attempt at capturing the lunar eclipse on the night of February 20, 2008. I'm happy with how most of the shots turned out despite how cloudy it was that night in DFW, Texas. Mark your calendar...the next lunar eclipse visible in North America is August 16, 2009. But this one will be the penumbral eclipse, which occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's penumbra. The penumbra does not cause any noticeable darkening of the Moon's surface, though some may argue it turns a little yellow.

My Valentines

Another year of Valentine's Day. This year Josh sent me a lovely bouquet of "Passion Roses" as a surprise (we were talking on the phone that evening and he mentioned nothing about any present!). He hoped that it would cheer me up after many weeks of being sick and still having to deal with hectic workload and deadline. It certainly worked! Thanks Josh...for making it a special day for me again :) Valentine's Day is also special in that it also marked another year of my birthday. Twenty-nine years ago today, Mom had to be in the hospital and give birth to me :p So every year, I always celebrate not only the love I have with my significant other, but also celebrate my mother's love. Thanks Mom...for putting up with me all these years ;)

From My Window (or not!)

Excuse my late partcipation in the Monday Theme as usual :p I've been wanting to post but lately seemed too busy with work stuff.... :( Anyhow, since I barely have time to go out and shoot at other interesting thing, I ended up shooting some self-portrait in a lonely hotel room while on a business trip in Orlando, FL recently. Yes, I was at Disney World resort...but I was on alone in a rather nice place. I guess at least I still have some pretty view outside a window (or maybe door in this case) while living in the pretty little box for several days ;)

It's been a while since I posted anything on Photoblog. Somehow the end of the year and the beginning of new year just always so hectic for me. But all the busy things aside...it sure feels nice to be back! So here goes my long overdue post of Monday Theme for January 14: "ICE" Better late than never, right?
