I have many pics, since my father has been busy with his scanner.

This one is a good pic of our dog William (usually called Bill) lying as close as he could to our "Fyreside" kerosene heater. Bill was a cross Fox Terrier, we don't know who he had been crossed with, but he was too big for a normal sized Foxxy.
He would lie on the linoleum floor, very close to the heater,,,,,,and often we would smell something burning,,,,,,most unpleasant smell,,,,,,,burning dog,,,,,,and we would have to wake him up, so he would shift.
As he was a white haired dog, he often would have a brown tinge to one side or the other.
Fortunately, he never got burnt, just his hair/fur, but it must have been most uncomfortable and sore.

Bill was definitely an inside dog and did everything with us, holidays included.

Stay tuned.

Powered by Photoblog.com

This is disc 1 of 3 he has scanned, the other 2 discs should come next week.
I was quite excited and glad to see these old pics of our family going back to 1960. I'll post more, here when I go through them and find the interesting ones.
These two, are of the same place, almost the same shot, taken from the "Skillion" at Terrigal. See the difference between then (1961) and now (2008). The young girl in the 1st pic, is my sister.

Powered by Photoblog.com

After breakfast, we would be starting the rest of the trip back home. One thing I have always wanted to do, was to capture the Sunrise, and for varying reasons (weather, didn't get up on time, etc.) have never managed.
I said to my wife the previous night, I wanted to get up early, about 5.15am, and walk down to the beach and wait for the sun to come up. There was a slight chuckle from Mary when she thought about me getting up that early to take photos, anyway Mary said OK, and that she would like to come too.
Next morning, we did manage to get out of bed on time (5.15am), it was still dark outside, and after a quick coffee, we headed down to the beach. Luckily I had packed my tripod before we left home for this trip, (I knew I had good reason to pack the tripod).
Once we had walked down to the beach through the dunes, I could see the horizon was quite clouded, but mounted the camera on tripod and set it up.
I took the first of over 100 photos, around 5.30, and kept taking shots every couple of minutes. I am still not that good with manual settings on my Fuji S5600, so I left it set on "Auto". Some of the first pics aren't all that good, as it was still a little dark for auto-focus.
I didn't actually get to capture the Sun breaking the horizon, but did get to capture it burning the tops of the clouds and that was just as exciting.
The Lighthouse on Montague Island was still beaming its light and in some pics you can "See the Light"

These are the last of our 2008 holiday photos. Now having finished posting this lot,,,,maybe I will get back other regular posting.

Powered by Photoblog.com

There are a few taken around our cabin at Island View holiday park, and then some at Narooma, around the breakwater entrance to river.

The first photo was actually the last photo taken the day before, and is a better shot of Simba, the Dingo.

Powered by Photoblog.com

Nearby are the rocky outcrops of Little Dromedary and Mount Dromedary, these are very special to local Aborigine legend and history.
We had our lunch on the beach at Mystery Bay, then back to Handkerchief Beach and holiday park

Powered by Photoblog.com

You just never know what you will find at a local craft market, sometimes it is the same junk,,,but someone else is selling it. We have been to these places before, but never really had the time to stop and look around. It was another miserable day, but you have to make the most of your time away, regardless of weather.

This day, we went to Mystery Bay, not far from the holiday park. A few years back, we had a caravan, and would camp at Mystery Bay, for a couple of weeks at a time. The camp site is hidden among the trees above the ocean.
After a visiting there, we drove down to Bermagui, a very busy fishing village and holiday spot.

Powered by Photoblog.com
