The reason for my long absence

Yup, I'm pregnant. I had awful, awful morning sickness and really didn't feel up to taking pictures the last two months. I'm much better now, but it's been kind of nice to take a break from trying to find something to take a picture of every day, especially after two straight years of it. I'll probably just randomly post pics, but most likely not every day. I'm now 18 weeks pregnant, due the end of September and we're super excited. We're also buying a house (yeah, we're just all sorts of crazy) so I'll have lots of moving pics I can post, too. I feel bad that I just abandoned the whole photoblog for so long, though I did spare you from many, many pictures of "here's me lying on the couch, trying not to puke."

Sun and snow

Aw, isn't it pretty? I'm so ready for the snow to stop. We got 6 inches on Thursday and then 8 inches on Saturday last week. Greg had to take an alternate route to work because the highway he normally takes along the lake was closed. Ridiculous. Some places east of here got two feet over the course of the storm. On Sunday they were getting 5 inches an hour. I'm glad it wasn't like that here.

Still fun, 20 years later

I dug my old-school Nintendo out of the closet because I wanted to play Dr. Mario and it's still so much fun. I don't have a lot of games, Dr. Mario, Mario Bros. 1-3 and Bubble Bobble (also so much fun), but I love playing it every once in awhile. Even though the graphics are terrible compared to the Wii, I just love it.

Crazy drive home

The roads weren't too bad on my drive home, but it was only a matter of time. Along the lake here it was near white-out at times and I nearly rear-ended a car ahead of me (not because I was taking pictures, I swear there were no cars near me when I was taking these) when I drove through a white-out section and it turned out there was a car there when the wind stopped. So I followed it closer the rest of the way so I could at least see its tail lights.

I'm pretty sure these are from the red squirrel. They're too small to be from the grey squirrel. Aren't they kind of cute?

Valentine's Day dinner

You guys, I'm doing terrible at taking my daily pictures so far this year! Just look at how many blank spots there are in February. Sheesh. My friend and her husband came to visit for the weekend. We decided that rather than go out for dinner on Valentine's Day when all of the restaurants would be packed, we'd just make something at home and then go out on Sunday when there wouldn't be a crazy wait.

Winter warm up

It was in the 40s today, and everywhere was just a mess. The snow is totally blocking the drains on the roads so all the water was just collecting on the roads. The warm-up didn't last long, but it sure made me look forward to when spring will actually be here!

Red is back!

UP Cheer Classic

Dayna and her cheer team ended up winning the competition, which was great. I made Greg go, too, because it's the last one of them that he'll ever have to go to, now that she's a senior. =)

Hockey night

A guy at work gave me free tickets to the hockey game because he wasn't able to go, so we headed out to watch NMU beat Bowling Green 3-0. The first period was pretty boring, but it got better in the second and third.
