Hiking the big chief

These are just some of the pics of my hike to the big chief. It's a nice place to visit. These pictures were taken with my "new" 17-85mm lens, which has some minor problems with something called "chromatic abberation", but most people don't notice, so I'm not going to worry myself. The trail was about 10 km, and almost killed my knee caps.

The editing challenge

I didn't really have a lot of time to get out and take photographs this week. I've been kinda crunched with some financial issues that I have to figure out. Anyway, the original image was of a weird bridge that was missing a section. I decided it was best to put godzilla in there and remove the beach. It was very blurry and I couldn't figure out what to put there. The rest is just good times. Enjoy!

I made myself a new bumper sticker. Here in Vancouver, like it's not bad enough we just had someone die from tasers, the translink people are now equipped with tasers. This is on top of their regular hand gun. So now, these cops, when they want to shoot you, have to stop, think for a second, and select the type of brutal physical damage they're going to inflict on you for not paying up your $2.75 skytrain fare. Oh yeah, and in the skytrain world, that $2.75 is always surplus. If you don't go, they don't make it, and they also don't lose any money. So, really they're just shooting you because they'd like more money. Not that they need it or anything. It's violence in the name of preference! Anyway, my bumper sticker was originally "F&*^W GOING GREEN. I'LL DRIVE MY CAR WHERE I DON'T RISK GETTING SHOT". But that's too long. Leo Out!

My girlfriends acting career

Today, I took a lot of pictures of my girlfriend. We wanted to get some because she is interested in becoming an extra. Always eager, I jumped at the opportunity to take some photos. They all turned out super excellent, but she hates me because she thinks I made her look fat. Tips to guys out there with girlfriends, get photoshop. NOW!

Changing my mind... for the 3rd time.

So, for the past couple days I've been deciding on wether to sell my camera, or keep it (because I wanted a 5D), which is a reasonable request. It turns out, i'm going to go neither way. I don't have the cash for a 5D or a 40D, so instead I'm just keeping my 30D and selling off all my lenses. This will theoretically allow me to buy a nice 10mm wide angle lens and I'll keep my tamron 28-75 2.8 as a walkaround lens. I don't really need my 300mm for any reason, and the kit lens would be cancelled out by the wide angle. In other news I've got a tonne of work to do on my salsa dancing. I'm what you'd call "reaalllly bad". Today, I don't really feel like writing anything. I went to the park, and took some pictures of various birds and creature stuff. I don't know what any of these birds are. I think one of them is a "killdeer", but I didn't see any dead deer around so who knows. Leo S.

Sale of the Canon 30D?

So in the past couple days, I've just been going to work. Because I want to go to Machu Picchu, I've decided to try to sell my Canon 30d and try to get a Canon 40D (as well as a 17-85 IS lens). I've had a tonne of offers on seperate parts of the kit I've prepared but no takers yet on the whole thing. We'll see how that works out. At work, I've started writing some scripts that pretty much automate my entire job, which makes things a lot easier for me. Heck, that third cup of tea in place of some remedial task (no automated) makes it all worth while. My girlfriend needed me to help her out with her homework. Boy, that just went on and on. What can I say, gotta do what a mans gotta do. What else.... hmm.... I went to my favorite place for photos, the old grain factory. I took a bunch of pics and ran them through some filters to spruce them up. Hope everyone enjoys them. Otherwise, just getting taxes done, and chillin'. Cause that's what a Network administrating Gangsta's gotta do.

Still organizing

I spent most of today just getting my old hard drive working and sorted out. I copied all my old CDs to my large 320 gig drive. It's funny how CDs used to be such a big thing, and now I can't imagine putting any kind of backup on one at all. Maybe a copy of Microsoft office or something. Anyway, apart from that, I found my power cable for the drive, and I'm off. I looked through piles and piles of pictures, and decided to post some of the garden in the back of my house, back from 2005 when I first got my Canon A80. It was about 4 megapixels from what I remembered, and a world different from my 30d. Just a stroll down memory lain. I'll get something more serious rolling as I get some time together later on.
