Vacation Day 1: Became a criminal. . .

HOCUS POCUS: So, our first day in Salem, we decided to go to the Pioneer Village. Parts of the movie Hocus Pocus were filmed there. When we arrived, it was all locked up and there was a sign that said it opens in June. Well, I immediately wanted to climb over the chain link fence but Derek was telling me not to. After trying to shoot through the fence for a few minutes, I politely said, "screw this, I'm going over." I climbed the fence and walked around shooting for about 10 minutes with Derek urging me to get out since some cars had come pulled in. After I came out, I told him- we're probably never coming back here and you are going to kick yourself later if you don't climb over with me. He argued for a bit but I finally coaxed him into it. I'm so glad we did. It was incredibly cool to see and I would have hated missing it. Come Little Children

We've been going hard all day long, but I had to take a moment to wish my sister Elizabeth, who I love very much, a very Happy Birthday. She is my twin sister, so yes, it is my birthday too, but we won't talk about that. lol And HEY! Don't you know it is rude to ask a lady her age?? Happy Mother's Day to all my wonderful PB friends who are moms!

Got up at 1:18 yesterday morning to drive from Astoria, OR to Portland, OR to catch a 5:00 AM plane to Salem, MA. It was a really long flight but finally made it to the opposite coast! Really happy to be here and can't wait to get out and see stuff. Frank

Well, I know you've all heard me whine about how busy the ends/beginnings of months are at work. Tomorrow is payroll, distribution, bank reconciliations etc but this was the sky last night and I had to share a fraction of how beautiful it really was. The photo is almost an insult to what the actual sky looked like, but I had to try. I'm not joking when I say that it was so beautiful it actually made me cry. (Ick. I am just the biggest baby ever) It's a Beautiful Life! See ya'll this weekend!

Here is the original police press release: Astoria Man Pulled From Columbia On April 24, 2013, at 11:06 AM, Astoria Police and Fire Department's responded to the area of 16th at the Columbia River. There was a report that a male subject was in the water and refusing to get out. Astoria police recognized the subject as Michael Bunch age 67 of rural Astoria. On arrival, Police and Fire realized that the situation was going to be challenging. The inwater area had several pilings and concrete structures that would inhibit a boat from reaching Bunch. Bunch would not cooperate with responders. He would swim away from any rescue devices thrown to him. Several times he would near shore only to swim away, saying voices were calling him out. Responders were fearful of attempting to swim out to bring him in because he did not want to be rescued. From the time of the initial call Bunch was in the water for 18 minutes. When Bunch neared the shoreline at about 11:27 AM Officer AJ Duryea, wearing a life vest and tethered, waded into the river and grabbed a shivering Bunch pulling him out of the water. He was turned over to Medix Ambulance and transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was detained on a Police Officer Hold because officers believed he was a threat to himself. Okay, now here is the CORRECTED police press release: Astoria Man Pulled From Columbia - Name Correction On April 24, 2013, at 11:06 AM, Astoria Police and Fire Department's responded to the area of 16th at the Columbia River. There was a report that a male subject was in the water and refusing to get out. Astoria police recognized the subject as Robert Velzy, age 57, of Astoria. (Really? They did? Then why were they calling him "Michael" the entire time. The rest of the release is the same as the original. I just can't believe they didn't change that sentence or remove it entirely.
