As some of you know, we lost our beloved BooBoo in September, at the age of 16. Today we got a new addition to our family. She doesn't have a name yet, but she appears to have settled right in.

Another new bird to my yard, spotted a few times over the past couple of weeks. The picture quality is not the best, as it was taken through a window. The closest ID I can come up with is a blue-headed vireo, but it still doesn't seem quite right. Does anyone know? Update: It appears that this is a female American Redstart. Thank you, hopepics! :)

What appears to be a very young pine warbler, resting on our front porch. I came out onto the porch with the dog, before spotting it. Despite that, it stayed there, and is still there as I post this. Although I'm very curious and would love to get closer, this young bird is safe where it is. If it's not yet comfortable with flight, I don't what to put it in danger by sending it out into the yard.

Spring!

First day of spring in the northern hemisphere, and my first spring bulbs are blooming away. We'll definitely add more next year!

New bed for BooBoo

BooBoo's old bed was pretty worn out. The cover was worn through in the center, and the foam was getting pretty thin. Now she has a new one - more than twice as thick, with orthopedic foam. I hope it makes her tired old bones feel a little bit better.
