Hostas thrive and ground covers multiply on my small plot of land.

Thuya Garden is part semi-formal English garden surrounded by woodlands and situated on a granite hillside. Charles Savage created the garden in 1956 on land that once was an orchard. He designed the garden to be a "semiformal herbaceous garden in the style of England's famous designer and author, Gertrude Jekyll.."

The land was originally owned by Joseph Henry Curtis—a Boston landscape architect. He designed a "Terrace Trail to traverse up the hillside." A summer cottage at the top was called Thuya Lodge—so named for the northern white cedar in the area. Thuya occientalis.

—Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Maine's rocks are cathedrals—places to stand in awe.
I love the sound of the surf or quiet lake water , the barnacles and rockweed, and the patterns engraved on rock surfaces.

We roamed among the rocks, sometimes finding small treasures, often enjoying the rock paths we created. This is poetry not prose.
