Mark and I saw out 2011 (almost - maybe if we had been in daylight savings) with a bourbon in hand. Meanwhile, Lisa incubated, Lui looked after Evelyn, and Evelyn expressed displeasure at being still awake.

I'm going to take a break from posting photos for a little while, and work out what I'm going to do next.

Constructive criticism and any made-up stories are welcome!

Mum sent over this beautiful bird mobile for Evelyn, for Christmas. She sells very nice hand-made stuff at http://www.houseofshallana.co.uk.

My main idea was to place this over Evelyn's cot while she was asleep and photograph the two of them, but that quickly unravelled when she was refusing to sleep. I couldn't risk turning on the light and using the noisy clunking SLR to photograph the scene (though I reckon it would have been excellent), since it had already taken two hours to get her to sleep the first time. Instead I made do with this "safe" photo, taken long before we tried to set her down to sleep. I try to take a safe photo in case the experimental one does not work out.

Constructive criticism and any made-up stories are welcome!

Alan Warren has posted a few photos of this church, and I thought I'd head down and have a crack at it. I had taken test shots last night so knew which angle I wanted.

This is a floodlight lighting up St Mary’s Church at Wood End. (I was actually here to take some photos of the church itself; I will head back and photograph it properly tomorrow.) In a similar vein to star trails, I set the camera to continuous 30-second exposures and sat down to read for a bit.

We were driving around trying to get Evelyn to sleep on Christmas night (she refused to sleep for five hours - what stamina). The trains were not running on the Ipswich/Rosewood/Richlands lines due to track work. I don't know if the trains are normally parked up here but they were this long weekend.

Uncle Richard is up from Sydney to visit Nana and Grandpa. I took the opportunity to get a portrait with Evelyn. Nana and Grandpa's house already had the best lighting and colours imaginable, and two new skylights have made this even better.

Christmas Day at our place. Lui made a gingerbread house for the girls to decorate. Evelyn was a bit too young thing time around to really get it, but Abby and Claire had a great time sticking on the decorations.
