I thought it might be a good idea if we could use this place to have some idea about the food from various parts of the World- well, this is KHANDVI-made out of gram flour. It's a popular dish from Gujarat in Western India. Don't be alarmed by those chillies-more for visual appeal-khandvi is generally not all that hot.

This is how a section of street looked from the top of Hawa Mahal. Man! was I glad not to be part of that street!! incidentally those boards on the lower portion on the right hand side say " NO PARKING".

Hawamahal-the famous monument of Jaipur

This is Hawa Mahal (meaning the Palace of Wind; probably becuase of so many windows)-the most famous monument in Jaipur, for some people Hawa Mahal is the face of Jaipur. I am not sure but according to local guide the main purpose of this Palace was to let the females in Royalyty watch the streets below from windows, because they, according to the ancient Hindu custom were not allowed to move(or be seen) among the public. Jeez! how the hell did I miss this cable across the pic. Surely not a creation of the Royalty who built Hawa Mahal.

The sheath maker at Jaipur

I found this interesting guy near Hawamahal, the most famous land mark of Jaipur in Rajasthan.He told me that he had been making sheath for last more than 30 years. The sheath is made out of a particular wood called AIDU/AIRU in local language. This wood is suitable for sheath coz it's light and at the same time very strong. Interesting indeed.
