Our Sunday Gallery (#6)

Thank you everybody that contributed to this gallery post. I apologise that not everything that was submitted has been posted here today but your other works will be featured on future posts. I would also like to thank all those that have added links and even made blogs to promote and honour the gallery...I was quite astonished by all these visual displays of support and can tell you that it has been very effective in bringing in new contributers to the post. Please keep the artworks coming in and long live the gallery!! I don't normally do this but I would like to draw special attention to the first image in this post and bestow a mountain of praise and gratitude to Sandra for her imagination, effort and originality. I am sure that you are all as thrilled as I am to see this as an opener to this post. Our Sunday Gallery will return in 2 weeks time (6th Dec) as a themed special on Ruth's page (nunuinpictures). I will post a short supplement here with a link to the main gallery post, so just come to this page as normal and you will be directed from here. And the theme? If you look at the last 2 images here, you will notice that Lys has contributed 2 mandalas. We would like to make a mandala post and hope that you may like to join us. The mandalas can be created from your imagination, could have a theme or if you're not so sure, then Lys has kindly given us the link to her website where you will find mandalas that are free to download. You can print them off and colour them to your own taste in mediums of your choice. This is a great opportunity for everybody to get really colourful this week (even me, and I have tried to avoid colour for quite some time :-)) Please mail the mandalas to ted.barlow@hotmail.co.uk by the evening of Saturday 5th Dec. and I will forward them on to Ruth for the post, thank you. The Ricky Horror Picture Show

When Ricky began submitting drawings for Our Sunday Gallery, I became a little apprehensive about publishing some of the works. Mainly because of the fact that they didn't sit well amongst the other submissions but also because the nature of them might be off-putting to potential future participants. It is a problem that has played on my mind for some time now. I don't believe in censorship of the arts and and wanted Our Sunday Gallery to have the ethos that 'anyone can do it' and a non-rejection policy. So here we present a one-off Gallery special; 'The Ricky Horror Picture Show' We can thank strangestagain for finally pushing us into publishing these, following conversations after visiting her 'solace' post. And also thank Sandra for publicising this event :-) Our Sunday Gallery will return in it's more familiar format next week but still needs your contributions. Consensus has it that the gallery should remain here on my page, at least for the time being, but I would still like it to go on a short tour, maybe in the New Year and if you'd like to host one Sunday blog please let me know. Have a great week and don't have nightmares (or if you do, then draw them afterwards ;-)
